Happy Christmas!

Nearly time to celebrate!  We’ve been wrapping gifts (super cute gift bow template from here)…

…having first adventures on the sewing machine (first time on the sewing machine for both boys!  They sewed a Christmas house each, completely by themselves – from selecting the fabric, cutting the pieces, sewing on the button door-handle, and using the machine.  I supervised and hand-sewed the opening closed when they finished.  So proud of them!  House idea from here)…

…and making biscuits to give to our neighbours.

All this making and baking and buying and wrapping and decorating is so much fun, and spending time with people we love is so special.  But through it all, we’re keeping our eyes fixed on the real meaning of the celebration! (Gorgeous printable from here)

jesus is the reason for the season

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.       Luke 2:15-16

We wish you the very happiest Christmas, and a new year full of joy and peace.  Remember that tiny baby born so long ago – born just for YOU!

  1. Merry Christmas Amy! It's been so nice to just slow down a bit here, regroup and enjoy each others company. We have been enjoying the weather and the pool (with an absolute scorcher today!) Santa was very, very good to us. I hope you are enjoying your Summer holidays too. It's fantastic that the boys are interested in sewing and you can spend quality time together enjoying a craft. Their houses are very cute and look well made. Thanks for the bow tutorial, I have saved it to my file, that should come in very handy for all sorts of uses! Have a Happy New Year, and I look forward to more of your adventures from 2014.

  2. Thanks Angela - so glad to hear that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas together! I'm enjoying imagining that it's hot enough to swim...it's been lovely and warm here most days over Christmas, but not hot enough to swim yet. Hope you all enjoy a relaxing New Year - see you in 2014! Thanks for all your support this year - it's been so encouraging :) xx (PS...boys were excited that you liked their houses! They were so cute sewing...I wanted to take photos, but didn't have enough hands to manage the camera and help at the same time!)
